Public Safety

Carrie Uva will work with our Downey Police Department to prevent crime and maintain a safe community. She will collaborate with our police department in recruiting new officers by offering competitive benefits. Carrie’s experience as an Executive Board Member of the Downey Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) since 2019 has prepared her to understand the unique needs of our Fire Department. She will make sure first responders have the necessary tools to do their job right with high-quality customer service.

By enhancing the collaboration between the City of Downey and community-based organizations like CityNet, Carrie wants to increase the transition of homeless individuals from our streets to long-term support programs.

Recognizing the escalating drug epidemic that threatens our youth and families, Carrie plans to strengthen local organizations aimed to educate our community of the danger of substance abuse, like Fentanyl and other such drugs.
